Honors English 11 Description & Syllabus


A selected survey of American Literature, this course emphasizes writing and critical thinking skills through the study of literature. This course is designed for the study of critical skills necessary for success in the workplace or in post-secondary studies.

Critical Competencies

  • Write unified compositions using standard English
  • Complete one research project using a variety of sources, including electronic media
  • Present a speech to persuade
  • Demonstrate improvement in reading comprehension and writing skills
  • Develop an understanding and appreciation of American literature
