I have been teaching for 10 years spending my last 8 here at Susquehanna Township High School. I have my bachelor’s in mathematics and my master’s in education. I look forward to working with you and your family this year!

Course Description:

The units in this course are aligned to the PA Core Standards, and the Keystone Eligible Content.  The units include linear, rational, coordinate geometry, linear inequalities, systems of equations, polynomials, functions, science applications and data analysis.

 

Prerequisites:

Completion of middle school MCL mathematics or the Principles of Algebra course.

 

Required Texts and Materials:

Writing utensils, laptops and chargers, folder

 

Recommended Texts and Materials:

Bring a calculator to class daily.  TI-30XIS will be provided as a class set, but these cannot leave the classroom.

 

Course Outcomes:

The student will demonstrate through the mathematical process an understanding of:

·       Structure and operations with expressions and quantities

·       Creating equations that describe numbers or relationships

·       Reasoning with equations and inequalities

·       Interpreting and building functions

·       Constructing and comparing linear, quadratic, and exponential functions

·       Interpreting categorical and quantitative data

Procedures for Late Assignment:

Assignments are to be completed by the next day. Late work will be accepted up to 3 days late. Exceptions can be made for emergencies and will be a case by case decision.

 

Procedures for Redo Work:

Assessments/Demonstration of Knowledge: If a student earned a grade below a B on a test or quiz, then they could redo the assessment within 7 days of receiving their feedback. Missing classwork/homework and corrections on their feedback must be redone if students wish to retake the test or quiz.

Learning Opportunities: If a student earned a failing grade on classwork/homework, they may redo it for full credit within 3 days of receiving feedback.

 

Procedure for Extra Credit:

No extra credit will be offered. They can earn full credit on regular assignments as described above.

Academic Assistance Program (AAP):

Need additional assistance in the class? Come to AAP after school on Mondays, Tuesdays, and/or Thursdays from 2:37-4:30pm in the library. A certified teacher will be on staff to help with any work or questions you may have. Students may ride the 4:30pm late bus home from AAP.
