Principal, Mr. DAVID Archer

My name is David Archer, and I am very excited to introduce myself as your Principal. I am honored to lead such an amazing school community and be a part of the Susquehanna Township family.

With regard to my credentials, I come to you with 20 years of experience as an educator in urban and alternative education settings as well as building community partnerships spanning the elementary, middle and high school levels.  During my career, I have had the privilege of engaging students as a paraprofessional, Secondary Social Studies teacher, and Interim Assistant Principal at Rowland Academy in the Harrisburg School District. I believe my professional and personal experiences will provide a new perspective to the successes of our school community.

My experiences have helped me acknowledge and appreciate the interconnection of the social, academic, and behavioral transitions of students.  I wholeheartedly believe that great schools are the result of great teachers and staff focused on the best interests of the student.  My primary goal is to support you in your continued successes and to promote the achievements of our scholars.

As an assistant principal of Susquehanna Township High School, I am beyond blessed to be a member of this incredible community. I believe in our district’s mission, vision and core values and am committed to the success of every learner, every day in every way. It is my goal to support all learners in all aspects of their high school career from a rich educational experience to creating lifelong memories and friendships for each student to cherish forever.

My background includes 4 years of teaching experience in 7^th and 8^th grade English Language Arts in Harrisburg School District and almost 4 years of teaching experience in 9^th through 12^th grade English Language Arts and elective courses at West Perry High School. My education and certifications include a Bachelor’s Degree in Humanities, a Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership, 7^th – 12^th grade English Teaching Certification, and K-12 Administrative Certification. I have also served on several leadership committees including curriculum writing, social-emotional learning, after school programs, and student-assistant programs all in the pursuit of supporting various student areas of need in order to be successful.

As an assistant principal of Susquehanna Township High School, I am proud to be a member of both our school and local community. I am excited to contribute to the growth and further development of an already outstanding district where my own children will be in attendance. I believe that every child can be successful, and I am exceedingly dedicated to this cause.

My professional career encompasses 8 years with the Harrisburg School District where I held the positions of Math and Science Learning Support Teacher, Elementary Math Teacher, 6^th grade Academic Team Lead, and Saturday School Director. My academic background includes Certification in Educational Leadership K-12, Master of Special Education, ESL Certification, and Bachelors of Liberal Studies. I have extensive education and experience in supporting students’ unique areas of need in order to support the growth and development of the whole child academically, socially, and emotionally.
